A quiet generational civil war is brewing — and it’s not Boomers vs. Millennials anymore. It’s Gen Z males looking upward with resentment toward Millennials, accusing them of not only breaking the system but then gaslighting everyone else into believing it was progress. These young men aren’t just upset — they feel betrayed. Millennials inherited the final chapter of the American Dream. Gen Z inherited the debt, the division, and the dysfunction.
You Inherited Prosperity — We Got the Bill
Being born in the mid-1960’s I am officially a Millennial, so I want to start off deeply asking the forgiveness from all of the Gen Zers out there. Admittedly, it all happened for me as a very slow moving movie where I just knew that a heroic force or movement led by this flamboyant personality that would correct the course of the nation from what anyone, if anyone would just stop for a tic and see through their third eye, could see that we as a nation was being given math that just didn’t add up. We as a nation have slowly surrendered the Biblical tenet of “A good man leaving an inheritance to his children’s children…”, to It’s all about me and now. I can remember still believing what my mom told me about leaving some food on my plate for those less fortunate in foreign “3rd World” lands, and that my dad telling me that if a man wants to be a man in the eyes of God he knows that he has to look to put in a good days work to earn pay. And that there’s nothing good that comes from it being free. And to always seek to do your very best. Today, gluttony, sloth, and pride are in fashion. And getting everything for “free”, leaving nothing for anyone else, and working as little as possible, is the new American cultural standard.
The generations prior to the Millennials generally did their best to instill morality, the Golden Rule, a high work ethic, and respect for the traditional concept of family, one man and one woman, and believed in the motto of love of God, country, and government, baseball, hotdogs, and mom’s apple pie.
Gen Zers economically are taking it in the shorts compared to Millennials and Boomers. Today there is a 60% spike in the avg. MLB game for the same bleacher seat and seventh-inning stretch [$22–$28 v $35–$45] from what Millennials enjoyed compared to that of Generation Z; for the stadium hotdog, it’s $7 more [$3.50–$4.50 v $6.00–$7.50]; and as for an apple pie, you may wantta give up sweets. It costs a Gen Zer $12.99–$16.99 compared to what it cost a Millennial during their era of $6.99–$9.99.
We Millennials came up during a time we knew the difference between Communism, Socialism, and American Capitalism; we came up knowing of the ideological battles of JFK and Khruschev, and actually lived through that galactic battle of world views between Reagan and Gorbachev, which in the end brought down the “Iron Curtain” that ended Communism for a half of Europe. I believe that many of us knew that we had something really special and good, not perfect, being an American. Let the truth be told, we had the luxury of coming up in a culture on the heels of “the Greatest Generation” where the struggling period was waning, we were told to dream big and put everything on our American Express or VISA credit card, while not speaking of what happens when the bill comes due to pay for our exuberance. Instead of rebuilding or rebelling, Millennials made the dysfunction and the immoral look aspirational and acceptable.
When Gen Zers look back at where the U.S government’s debt was in the 1950s [$257 billion], according to TreasuryDirect.gov, compared to $27.7 TRILLION and $36.56 TRILLION, 2020 and 2025 respectively, with no genuine discussion on paying this debt down and the government talking as a trillion as the new million, they feel their wallets and purses getting flatter. They don’t see the Wrigley-size baseball field that their parents and grandparents played on; they see the little league field that they are standing on, that is shrinking seasonally. At the same time, Gen Z males, on average, earn 25% less than Millennial men at the same age, according to Pew Research, despite higher levels of education and skill.
Gen Z sees themselves stuck paying off the emotional, cultural, and economic debts that Millennials helped pile up. And no one asked them for their permission to do so.
I Am Told Not To Be Manly, So I Am Left With The Option Of …?
Millennials enabled, if not promoted, movements to tear down American traditions. No movement can be more pointed than the movement to destroy the traditional American family, one man with one woman. Starting with removing the man from the home. As reported by neurolaunch.com, today 1 in 4 U.S. children grow up without a biological, step, or adoptive father in the home. I can remember in 1992 on one of the most popular sitcoms on TV, Murphy Brown, the main character gave birth to a child without a father on television. That broke the seal on single-parent mothering and put this front and center in the consciousness of the American people that this is now acceptable. So much so that by the 2000s, single motherhood surged, with nearly 25% of children in the U.S. living without a father.
This action flies in the face of natural facts: Boys without fathers often struggle with self-worth, emotional regulation, and identity formation.
The absence of a father figure correlates with:
- Higher rates of depression, anxiety, and aggression
- Increased likelihood of academic failure, substance abuse, and incarceration
- Difficulty forming secure romantic relationships due to trust issues and emotional detachment.
I’ve always say that someone who has never done something or been something cannot teach another to do that thing nor be that person, no matter how good their intentions. Something is going to be missed in the transfer of knowledge and information. There’s going to be a bolt missing from an essential joint, an important word not spoken, or a relevant lesson not taught. Leaving too many Gen Zers, in particular the male, left to figure out very important life issues on their own – many incurring less than favorable or positive results, for themselves and for the overall society.
Boys raised without male mentorship are more likely to experience emotional dysregulation, identity confusion, and social detachment. Gen Z males are three times more likely than Boomers to prioritize “dominance” as a masculine trait — a reaction to cultural displacement. Many Gen Z males lack healthy models of masculinity, leading them to gravitate toward inferior replacements who often lead them down a rabbit hole to a negative outcome. One of the most visible results, particularly on the urban streets, has shown up in some of the most unhealthy ways possible:
- In urban areas, 42% of juveniles involved in crime come from single-parent homes. A generation of young men who feel unseen, unmentored, and unmoored — caught between cultural feminization and hypermasculinity.
- Youth in single-mother households are 34% more likely to be involved in gang activity than those in two-parent homes.
- Cities with high levels of single-parenthood report 118% higher violent crime rates and 255% higher homicide rates.
- Among juvenile offenders, 60% have a history of living in single-parent households, and 65% of juvenile prisoners come from these environments.
When young males cannot find a sense of guidance and or belonging, love, or structure at home, they will seek and find it out in the streets. Gen Z males see themselves growing up in unsafe cities, anti-merit educational systems, and ideologically polarized environments — wondering if Millennials ever considered the long-term cost.
Is There A Place For A John Wayne Male In Today’s Feminization of American Culture?
In my youth, there was a somewhat abundance of healthy, masculine male role models, many were remnants from the Boomer Generation, like John Wayne, Sidney Poitier, Bill Cosby, and Clint Eastwood; as well as TV shows exhibiting healthy families and gender interactions such as Happy Days, Good Times, The Cosby Show, and Leave It to Beaver. When it was not only ok for a man to show bravery, strength, aggression, and the ability to be a leader, it was expected. Today, young men are absent those type of role models and images. The Progressives and Extreme Feminists have left them with a world that seeks to defang traditional masculinity; at the same time, they seek to pedestalize the female, to masculinize the woman. The consequence of this has been that many boys, absent strong and positive male role models, turn to images or personas who are vulgar and or hypermasculine just to counterbalance the cultural feminization. Still, many have become either emotionally fragile and passive, or aggressively dominant and emotionally detached, not knowing how truly a man is supposed to act or just be. The phase of “Toxic Masculinity” of the “#MeToo” Movement deeply added to the degradation of the idea of masculinity in the underdeveloped minds of many Gen Z males, as well as females. The crazy thing is that, according to the Encyclopedia of Sexual Psychology and Behavior, women often favor masculinized traits like broad shoulders, deep voices, and assertiveness because they signal genetic fitness, protection, and resource acquisition. This all leaves Gen Z males asking the question, What are their roles supposed to be? What is he supposed to be to the woman that he seeks to be his suitable mate?
The Generation Z male has been given an America that once prized grit, competition, and masculine resolve — and they were handed the one that accepts a prize just for showing up and is seemingly hell-bent on committing cultural suicide. The feminization of American culture has placed the traditional male, who was Creator-endowed to fight, protect, and defend his home, his family, and his country from ALL threats, on the deep, deep back bench, in favor of a kinder, gentler, more passive, emotionally fragile version. Gen Z males aren’t just pissed — they’re totally discombobulated. They see from TV shows and movies, and they listen to the music from the not-too-distant past. They hear stories of how America USED to be when America was great. They’re asking: WTF?!!! Are you kiddin’ me?! Is this what you are giving us?! We have to pray that they can somehow forgive us for our sins.
